Anwar Hussain MD, MHA (Founder, CEO)
Anwar is the founder of Katalytik Inc. Prior to this he was working in business development for UMass Memorial Healthcare – one of the largest integrated delivery systems in the Northeast. There he was responsible for the launch of several new initiatives and was involved with quality improvement for multiple emergency departments. His experience also includes being a consultant to a venture capital firm, and a practicing physician trained in emergency and family medicine. He occasionally works at the Camino Medical Group in its urgent care division to maintain his clinical skills. Anwar received his AB (Phi Beta Kappa) and MHA from Cornell University, and his MD from University of New York at Stony Brook.
Joe Falcone MS (VP, Engineering)
Joe leads all product development for Katalytik, Inc. and has 25+ years experience in both hardware and software engineering. He has held leadership positions in both large public companies and fast-growing startups – in the process delivering more than 40 unique products. Most recently, he was VP, Engineering at Virtual Motors – a startup focused on creating a fully integrated auto dealer management system. On the healthcare IT side, he was CTO and SVP, Engineering at venture-backed (Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Sprout Group, Interwest, and Three Arch Partners) ePocrates Inc. There he ran the development team of an award-winning handheld product for physicians which has gained widespread acceptance (hundreds of thousands of users). Mr. Falcone has also held management positions at Centura Software, Borland, Kronos, Data General (now EMC), and Digital Equipment (now HP). He holds an AB (Phi Beta Kappa) from Berkeley and an MS from Stanford.
Dan Berrios MD, PhD, MPH (Chief Technology Officer)
Dan is a trained pathologist and informatician, with expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, and biocomputing. He has published in several medical journals including JAMA and the Archives of Internal Medicine. In addition, he has designed systems for intelligent medical information indexing and retrieval, including the ELBook system while at Stanford Medical Informatics, yielding two patents. He has most recently been engaged with the design and development of a semantic web system at NASA Ames which received several awards, focusing on research topics such as ontology alignment and knowledge acquisition for engineering and scientific applications. Dan received his BA (magna cum laude) from Brown, an MD from UC San Francisco, a PhD from Stanford and an MPH from Berkeley.
Brian Reaves (VP, Products)
Brian is responsible for driving the company's innovation and leadership in product definition and direction. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Reaves' expertise has been instrumental in bringing to market some of the most innovative products within the enterprise software industry. Prior to Katalytik, Mr. Reaves held Executive Management roles within several companies. At Covigna, he led all of product management; prior to joining Covigna, Mr. Reaves served as Chief Executive Officer of Praxid, a start-up provider of Enterprise Channel Management solutions for mid-sized manufacturers and distributors. Prior to Praxid, Brian served as Vice President of Engineering for OpenLatitude Incorporated, a Bay Area firm focused on the development of Supply Chain Execution applications for consumer products companies and their partners. Brian has also held executive management positions in Beyond Software, Thomson-CSF, and Xerox Corporation. He holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
